How Volt Works

Volt works a little differently depending on whether you are buying or selling. Here is each journey, end to end.

For Buyers

Find it. Verify it. Drive it.

From finding a vehicle to driving it away — no account needed.

  1. Search and Filter

Browse verified electric vehicles and filter by price, county, motor power and payload. Every listing shows professional photos and the seller's own condition disclosure.

Behind the scenes: Volt only publishes listings that passed ownership verification, so everything you see has already been checked.

  2. Check the Verified Badge

Listings with the Ownership Verified badge had their logbook confirmed against the NTSA register before going live. You know the seller really owns the vehicle.

Behind the scenes: Our officers also check for loans, liens and court orders that could block a clean transfer.

  3. Contact the Seller Directly

Tap Contact Seller to see the seller's phone number — no account, no sign-up. You speak to the seller yourself, with no intermediary and no finder fee.

Behind the scenes: Volt never sits in the middle of your conversation or takes a cut of your deal.

  4. Book a Test Drive

Use the Book Test Drive button on any listing to arrange a viewing with the seller. You see and drive the exact vehicle before you commit.

Behind the scenes: The seller gets your request straight away, so you can agree a time that suits you both.

  5. Buy Directly from the Seller

You negotiate the price and complete the purchase with the seller, then transfer ownership through the standard NTSA process. The vehicle is yours.

Behind the scenes: Volt is a listing and discovery platform — the sale and transfer happen directly between you and the seller.

The Volt Verification Process

  1. 01

    NTSA Register Check

Our verification officers check every vehicle's logbook number and chassis number against the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) register. We confirm that the logbook details submitted by the seller match the official register and that the registered owner is the business selling the vehicle.

  2. 02

    Encumbrance and Lien Check

We check for active financial charges, hire-purchase agreements, bank liens, court attachment orders and any other encumbrances that could stop a clean transfer of ownership. We use the Judiciary eCourt portal and the Kenya Gazette as primary sources.

  3. 03

    Ownership Confirmed

Only after both checks pass does a listing receive the Volt Ownership Verified badge. The badge means our team independently confirmed the vehicle's ownership status at the time of listing.

  4. 04

    Professional Photography

Our field executives visit the seller's yard and photograph the vehicle from 8 required angles, including the odometer and dashboard. This confirms the physical vehicle matches the documents and logbook details.

  5. !

What the Badge Does NOT Confirm

The Ownership Verified badge confirms ownership at the time of listing. It does not confirm the vehicle's mechanical condition, battery health, market value or road-worthiness. We strongly recommend an independent inspection before purchase. Volt connects verified sellers and buyers — all transactions happen directly between the two parties.

Verification by the Numbers

Frequently Asked Questions

The listing moves to a 'documents required' status and we ask the seller for more documents. If the difference can't be resolved, the listing fails verification and is not published.

Our target is 48 hours from payment confirmation to a verification decision. Most verifications are completed within this window.

We check the vehicle's Certificate of Registration (logbook) details against the NTSA register. We also check for active financial charges using the Judiciary eCourt portal and the Kenya Gazette.

Yes. If new information comes to light after listing, we can withdraw the Ownership Verified badge. We always notify the seller when this happens.

No. Volt, a brand of Sunpoynt Limited, is a listing and discovery platform. All ownership transfers happen directly between buyer and seller through the standard NTSA transfer process.
